Australian shares increased slightly on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Metals & Mining & Materials sectors led to higher shares.

The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index eked out a +3.6-point gain, or +0.05% to 7,513.4, while the All Ordinaries added +3.4 points, or +0.04%, to 7,843.7, while our local currency, the Australian dollar, is currently buying US$0.7256.

Despite the iron ore price declining slightly as demand dipped into the end of the year, the major miners led the market gains.
BHP Group advanced +0.9%, to $41.68 and Rio Tinto added +0.8%, to $99.54 and Fortescue Metals slid -0.14% to $19.14.
