ASX ends in the green, but investors remain cautious of the Omicron coronavirus strain

The Australian sharemarket finished positively on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, A-REITs and Consumer Staples sectors led the index higher.

At the closing bell, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index rose +16.2 points, or +0.22%, to 7,256.0, while the All Ordinaries added +24.9 points, or +0.33%, to 7,587.4, while our local currency, the Australian dollar, is currently buying US$0.7115.

Travel shares rebounded following the big declines on Monday.

Webjet gained +5.2%, to $5.47, Corporate Travel Management increased +4.7%, to $22.11, and Flight Centre added +4.5%, to $17.75.

Last month, Collins Foods unveiled an aggressive move to expand the KFC franchise throughout the Netherlands, leading the market with a +12.6% advance to $14.10.
